Anne-Louise & Kevin | North Cadbury Court
More and more people seem to be getting married in the winter months these days, and judging by the recent ‘summer’ weather it makes perfect sense. This December is as busy as any spring or autumn month with Christmas and New Year winter weddings in big country houses with big open fires. I’m often asked if winter weddings will be tricky to photograph and whilst they hold their own challenges, they also bring opportunities for capturing the kind of light you just don’t get in the summer months. There’s a warmth to candle light and small lamps and a real intamacy about everyone celbrating under one roof. I don’t often include group photos in blog posts but thought I’d show a couple of indoor examples here to give you an idea of what I’m talking about. Anne-Louise and Kevin chose to get married at North Cadbury Court which in my opinion is one of the best winter wedding venues in Somerset. It’s a huge 16th century house which since I’ve been shooting there has undergone huge renovations and improvements. It’s beautifully presented, very intimate for it’s size and full of cosy armchairs and sofas; perfect for a winter wedding! Anne-Louise and Kevin were a joy to be around and their guests were full of Christmas cheer and laughter. This was shot on 28th December last year so there was very little daylight and it was bitterly cold outside. But as you can see from the photos it really didn’t matter! Here’s just a few which I hope you enjoy.
“Thank you sooo much for all of your work on our photos, both on the day and your editing – we love them. We can’t believe how many shots you took and love looking through them – feels like we are reliving the entire day – including the bits we missed! It was great to have you both there as you captured so much of the morning which would have otherwise been missed. Our guests raved about you both and how you were both so friendly and approachable and just fit into the whole day putting everyone at ease – even when I dragged everyone outside for a group shot at the end of December (thanks for taking the heat on that one! :)). Would highly recommend you both – your photography style is beautiful and captured the day perfectly – the lighting you captured is amazing. If any of your future couples are questioning 1 or 2 photographers then I can’t recommend having both of you there enough. Anne-Louise & Kevin”
